Research responsibilities

As a field technician, I’m in charge of making sure our barley fields are cultivated, planted, irrigated and harvested. I take field notes in FHB plots (i.e., “reading scab”). I am known for speedy hand harvesting with a sickle. I help lay out field maps and pack, sort and store seed. I am responsible for greenhouse management, watering crosses, caring for winter plots and greenhouse planting.

Fun Fact

I grew up on a coffee farm in Honduras and now run a coffee business, importing up to 30,000 lbs of coffee a year grown by my family. "Hay que rico!"
